Sisters Emma Forbes and Sarah Standing opened their childrens shop Semmalina five years ago and it quickly became a "destination" spot for quirky, original gifts for the young and the young at heart.
TV and Radio presenter Emma and Journalist Sarah between them have 5 children ranging from 21 down to 6. Together they saw a gap in the market for a shop that was visually exciting, and that offered personal service, innovative gift-wrapping and bespoke party bags.
"We found more and more customers were coming to us for not only their children's party bags but asking if it would be possible to make "GROWN UP" bags for their children's 21st birthdays, weddings and even stag nights. We decided to expand this area of our business to cater not just for children but for anyone wanting a unique and special keepsake."
Semmalina now has a large celebrity following and is famous for finding unusual presents for people that seemingly have everything. It sells a range of ever-changing clothes, vintage prints, nostalgic toys from the past,old-fashioned sweets and fantastical and irresistible bits of childish kitsch.....This year, due to popular demand, the style sisters are launching STARBAGS - an extension of the already successful Semmalina shop.
How it Works
Q: What are STARBAGS?
A: STARBAGS are bespoke handmade party bags.
Q: What do they look like?
A: Out of this world, unique and totally stunning. Each bag is hand made, hand packed and decorated for maximum visual impact. All are unique and individual. Wrapped in decorated cellophane, tied with three colored ribbons each is stuffed with unusual age appropriate or party themed gifts, delicious sweets and stylishly presented.
Q: What kind of parties are they for?
A: Childrens birthday parties, baby showers, christenings, weddings, bar mitzvah, hen nights, stag nights, anniversaries, sleepovers, 21sts, office parties, Easter baskets, Valentine gifts, Halloween, Christmas, corporate events and civil ceremonies...Each one made to order and within whatever price range you want - filled and decorated with anything from sweeties to wands and wrapped in see-thru cellophane with masses of ribbons..no order too large or too small.
Q: What kind of things can you put in the bags?
A: Whatever your heart desires!! We live to source new and fun items that will make your party unique and the talk of the town.
Q: How Much?
A: As little or as much as you want to spend!! We charge £2.00 per bag for the wrapping, sweets, ribbon, cellophane and you determine how much you want to spend on the contents.
Q: How do I order them?
A: Just email your idea and quantity to visit us in the shop at 225 Ebury Street, London SW1W 8UT to have a personal consultation and choose the contents of your bag, or just tellephone us on 0207-730-9333
Q: How long do they take?
A: Ideally we would like a weeks notice however for orders under 30 bags we are able to create them within 48hrs.
Q: How can I get them?
A: Either by picking them up from the shop, by post or by courier.
